Ganesh Babu to produce Mahesh, Puri Jagannadh film

Super Star Mahesh Babu and Puri Jagannadh jointly delivered two blockbusters Pokiri and Businessman and the duo are eyeing for hattrick hit shortly.

Yes, if the buzz is to be believed Mahesh has signed up for yet another film in Puri Jagannadh direction and the film shoot will commence once both of them wrap up their respective prior signed projects. Ganesh Babu who scored a blockbuster with Pawan Kalyan’s Gabbar Singh and is currently producing Jr.NTR’s Baadshah will produce Mahesh-Puri Jagannadh’s third film on Parameswara Arts Production banner.

Mahesh has already had Businessman release in 2012 and now the star is busy with simultaneous shootings of his forthcoming films Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu and a yet-to-be titled film in Sukumar direction.

Ganesh paid for Gabbar Singh title clash

In an unprecedented move in Tollywood, leading producer Bandla Ganesh revealed that he had to shell out a whopping Rs 25 lakh for the rights to use the title of Gabbar Singh.Ganesh went through legal negotiations with B-town producer Rohan Sippy as the latter staunchly objected to the use of the Gabbar Singh name in the title of the former’s film. Sippy said it amounts to cashing in on a brand name, as Gabbar Singh is a popular character from the evergreen hit Hindi film Sholay.In his defence, Ganesh had stated that his film has nothing to do with the story of Sholay and is, in fact, a typical cop story and the Telugu remake of the Salman Khan starrer Dabangg. The Gabbar Singh name, he added, has been strictly used for inspirational purposes only. However, the Sippys would hear nothing of it and stuck to their guns; urging Ganesh to go in for an alternative title. But even after the film was passed through the Censor Board and the name tweaked to Pawan Kalyan’s Gabbar Singh, the makers of Sholay could not be placated. Finally, Ganesh had to pay up to use the name of a character considered an important cult figure in the history of Indian cinema. “Rohan Sippy and the rest of the family objected to the title of our film, but we couldn’t change it as it had become popular with the Telugu audience. We paid a sum of Rs 25 lakh and received a no-objection letter from them to sort out everything,” explained Ganesh. With the funny cop story already making waves at the box office, Ganesh has erased the bitter memories of the dud Teen Maar his earlier film with Pawan Kalyan. “Gabbar Singh” is an all-time industry hit and its overwhelming success is yet to sink in,” he said.

Prabhu Deva wants to direct a horror movie

After directing two action movies for Bollywood – “Wanted” and forthocming action film “Rowdy Rathore” – Prabhu Deva would now wants to make scary movies.

“More than me, people want me to do action films only. Everybody tells me to do action films. But I would love to do horror films,” he told.

A well-established choreographer and actor in the southern film industry and a successful director in Bollywood, the 39-year-old likes both the places and says that it’s the team that is more important than anyting else.

“South or here, anywhere it is ok until the team is good. The team must be good. We can even do a Spanish film as long as the team is good,” he said.

He hit the bull’s eye in Bollywood with Salman Khan-Ayesha Takia starrer Hindi movie “Wanted”. Now he is coming out with “Rowdy Rathore”, which has Akshay kumar and Sonakshi Sinha as the lead pair.

It is an out-and-out action movie and Prabhu Deva felt that Akshay suited the role perfectly.

“I selected Akshay because the character is tailormade for him, you will see. It happens to be an action film and he is very good at it. It’s great to work with him and he is a director’s delight,” said the director.

“Rowdy Rathore” is releasing June 1.

Talking about Sonakshi, he said: “Sonakshi is doing her second film, but it doesn’t seem that this is her second film, it seems that this is her 25th film – she is so professional and so good. Both Akshay and Sonakshi dance well. This is a bonus. Not only fight, dance is also there in the film,” he said.
